| Description: |
Do you love spending time on Vermont lakes? Do you care about their water quality and ecosystem health? If you do, then consider asking your parents to become BLUE certified. BLUE is a contractual agreement certifying that residential properties are watershed friendly. To earn BLUE certification, private property owners voluntarily comply with scientifically accepted practices, as set forth in the BLUE standard, for reducing water pollution runoff originating on their properties. It is quick, easy and interesting, and supported by Lake Champlain International and the Lake Champlain Basin Program. Certification is currently free for residents in Colchester, Shelburne and Winooski and financial assistance may be available for making physical improvements to properties in these communities to meet certification standards. See our website for more details. |
